How to Press Your DTF Transfers
How to Press Your DTF Transfers
What You'll Need
- Heat press machine
- DTF transfer print
- Garment (cotton, polyester, or blend)
- Parchment or silicone sheet (optional but recommended)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Pre-press your garment — Press for 2–3 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. This ensures a flat, even surface.
- Position your transfer — Place the DTF print face-down onto the garment in your desired position.
-
Set your heat press — Use these settings as a starting point:
- Temperature: 160–170°C (320–338°F)
- Pressure: Medium-firm
- Time: 10–15 seconds
- Press — Lower the heat press and apply firm, even pressure for the full duration.
- Peel — Lift the press and peel the film while hot (hot peel). If your transfers are cold-peel, wait 10–15 seconds before peeling.
- Re-press (optional) — Place a parchment sheet over the print and press again for 5 seconds to improve durability and finish.
- Done! — Allow the garment to cool before wearing or folding.
Tips for Best Results
- Always test on a scrap piece of fabric first.
- Avoid steam when pre-pressing.
- Wash inside-out on a cool cycle to extend print life.
- Settings may vary slightly depending on your heat press brand and transfer supplier.
